26 04 2008

Make your own ringtones and graphics, for free, at Mobile17. Check it out! Click-here.

Do you have great songs on your computer and want them to be ring-tones? Technically iTunes 7.6 should be able to help with that by creating your own ring-tones, but for those who arent so technologically savvy, here comes mobile17. Pick any music file on your computer, pick the time and how long you want the loop to be (from 3 to 40 seconds) and then upload. This upload process says it takes forever so that you donate to get priority, but it goes way faster than the time says, and if its a multiple hour time, just take a nap. This software is completely great-grandma proof and totally anti-spam. They offer multiple ways of getting you your ringtone, customized to your plan and to your phone, so once you click the link up top, not much needs to be done. Any ring-tone, any time.

Vertu, Very Classy.

21 04 2008

Extremely nice phones. I am not talking about the razr, im not even talking about the sidekick. I’m talking about the iPhone, wait thats made out of plastic and steel, skip that. When someone is talking about genuinely breath taking mobile devices the Vertu (pronounced virtue) is generally brought up. It is handmade in England and then sent to jewelers. JEWLERS! That must be a pretty damn nice looking phone, which it is. It comes with its own concierge, which in its self is ridiculous but especially because these 24 hours a day on call people will submit to any whim and will do or find anything. There are stories on their web page that describe a man calling for them to pick his wifes diamond anniversary present, he did nothing but supply the funds, I bet according to this man money does in fact buy happiness. Every little bit of any Vertu phone is completely hand crafted, down to the ruby slide board. If you were buying a Vertu however, you should expect nothing less as the prices range from low 4000’s to high 7000’s. I bet your iPhone just started looking a whole lot better now. This anything but cheap Vertu imitator is worth a try if you have an extra 400 dollars kicking around.

27 million dollar phone-on-air campaign launched by Emirates

21 03 2008

To much of the worlds dismay in flight phone use is now possible, and supposedly harmless. AeroMobile partnered up with Emirates to install the system for the first time on Airbus model A340. What the system does exactly, is convert the heavy talker sitting next to you’s cell phone airwaves into smaller waves, to a point where they don’t put the airplanes positioning devices out of whack. Even though I’m not sure of the integrity of the following statement, Emirates claims that they will prevent people from taking advantage of this feature by talking non-stop so loud you figure they forgot about their phone but still want to talk to someone 30,000 feet below. This had the potential to be the best technological improvement this month… except to most people its a mere annoyance. My suggestion is if you are being annoyed by a heavy talker near you, simply pull out your phone and talk the best Farsi jiberish you can manage, chances are the flight crew will end calls to the ground.

Google Phone 2008, Should Be Amazing. Can You Create It?

19 03 2008

Continuing until April 14th Google is holding a phone competition that is going to supply Google with their first phone. They are challenging developers and regular people alike to create a software for their upcoming phone using android software. The phones name has yet to be revealed however. exactly what Google’s competition is, is they are offering up cash prizes totaling 10 million dollars for a set of application designs. The exact type of Apps they are looking for are social networking programs and also programs that help the environment or humanitarian benefits, but mostly, as Google describes it, “whatever your interested in.” The actual creation of the software is much easier than what I thought before I started on my own project. What actually happens, is you download Android, which is the basis of what you will be creating. After this you must download yet another program to be able to physically create the programs you want, which they give you step by step instruction on how to do. https://i2.wp.com/techdigest.tv/google-phone.jpgThese are the pictures that would come up after opening this program , and as you modified the application, the phones screen would change accordingly. That is the Picture of the actual Google phone coming out known as the Gphone {(or Google phone) weirdly similar name as apples iPhone}. This phone is built upon the base of the E28 Linux Handset. Anyway, after creating the Application on the E28’s virtual screen the goal would be to send the code to Google and possibly win one of the cash prizes of 275,000 dollars. I would’ve highly suggested Google’s offer, but it would be very hard to construct anything worth while before mid-April.
