27 million dollar phone-on-air campaign launched by Emirates

21 03 2008

To much of the worlds dismay in flight phone use is now possible, and supposedly harmless. AeroMobile partnered up with Emirates to install the system for the first time on Airbus model A340. What the system does exactly, is convert the heavy talker sitting next to you’s cell phone airwaves into smaller waves, to a point where they don’t put the airplanes positioning devices out of whack. Even though I’m not sure of the integrity of the following statement, Emirates claims that they will prevent people from taking advantage of this feature by talking non-stop so loud you figure they forgot about their phone but still want to talk to someone 30,000 feet below. This had the potential to be the best technological improvement this month… except to most people its a mere annoyance. My suggestion is if you are being annoyed by a heavy talker near you, simply pull out your phone and talk the best Farsi jiberish you can manage, chances are the flight crew will end calls to the ground.

Google Phone 2008, Should Be Amazing. Can You Create It?

19 03 2008

Continuing until April 14th Google is holding a phone competition that is going to supply Google with their first phone. They are challenging developers and regular people alike to create a software for their upcoming phone using android software. The phones name has yet to be revealed however. exactly what Google’s competition is, is they are offering up cash prizes totaling 10 million dollars for a set of application designs. The exact type of Apps they are looking for are social networking programs and also programs that help the environment or humanitarian benefits, but mostly, as Google describes it, “whatever your interested in.” The actual creation of the software is much easier than what I thought before I started on my own project. What actually happens, is you download Android, which is the basis of what you will be creating. After this you must download yet another program to be able to physically create the programs you want, which they give you step by step instruction on how to do. https://i2.wp.com/techdigest.tv/google-phone.jpgThese are the pictures that would come up after opening this program , and as you modified the application, the phones screen would change accordingly. That is the Picture of the actual Google phone coming out known as the Gphone {(or Google phone) weirdly similar name as apples iPhone}. This phone is built upon the base of the E28 Linux Handset. Anyway, after creating the Application on the E28’s virtual screen the goal would be to send the code to Google and possibly win one of the cash prizes of 275,000 dollars. I would’ve highly suggested Google’s offer, but it would be very hard to construct anything worth while before mid-April.

Who Will Be the Next American Idol? Song Writer.

Apple is Currently holding a competition in accordance with Fox to see who can write music for our American idols! Apples involvement in this is that the music must be written in garage band, Apples music program, but other than that competition rules are pretty slim. I strongly suggest finding out about Garage Band if you don’t currently use it as it is the best audio editing software in the non-professional class currently. Apple is working with American Idol so much that they even remain the vendor to the contestants complete songs. Much of you who are against American Idol, don’t take it out on Apple, check out this Anti-Idol site.

802.11n On It’s Way?!?!

16 03 2008

It looks as if this Tuesday we won’t be seeing another MacBook or MacBook Pro update, but an Airport update. It seems as though Apple will change its Airport Express from 802.11g to the much faster 802.11n. It’s rumored (via MacRumors) that it will run at its current cost of $99. We will keep you posted as soon as the Apple Store goes down on Tuesday.
UPDATE: TUAW has reported that the 802.11n has appeared on Apple’s Swiss site, link, which definitely supports the rumor.

Good Nerd Bad Nerd: Steve Jobs Vs. Bill Gates

16 03 2008

http://tmgcanada.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/steve-jobs.jpg The average person, believes in Bill Gates as the Satan of the computer world even after seeing him pour billions of dollars into his favorite charity’s that he supports publicly. He is generally thought of as someone who doesn’t care about the quality of his products as much as he cares about his WeNUS, (weekly net usage/spending) even though his products encompass more than 85% of all computers used around the world. The theory is behind this, that Gates is just a nerd attempting to get back at those who made fun of him by squeezing them dry, and in essence ruling the world. All of this however is completely foolish insight that just so coincidentally works out perfectly for mini-me billionaire Steve Jobs. Jobs on the other hand is considered the”nice guy” of technology, the utter opposite of Bill Gates, and yet who is really the bad one? According to the facts it appears that mainstream thought could have erred.

  • Bill Gates donates millions of dollars to charity every year
  • Steve Jobs has not been found to donate more than five million dollars in the past decade
  • Bill Gates speaks about his charity’s, using his celebrity for a cause
  • Steve Jobs is very seclusive about any of his beliefs and keeps on the topic of Apple
  • Gates founded the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation grossing 39 Million Billion dollars in Dec. of ’07. Helps poverty in Africa.
  • Steve Jobs Recently launched campaign to take admired social figures who do speak out, and use that emotion to sell computers

Just looking at the facts, even though I do admire Jobs’s art more than Gates, I must say, I’m very compelled to be against apple, especially with all of Jobs’s techniques to diminish Gates in the worlds eye, such as the “I’m a mac; and I’m a P.C.” commercials portraying Gates as an overweight, insecure, stupid, and older individual (who’s also balding). I think just because Gates wins all these human points, Jobs’s Work points start to count less, maybe to a point where Gates deserves his market share lead. I don’t know.

Small Just Got A Littler Bigger

14 03 2008

The image “https://i2.wp.com/www.taproot.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/media-images-img-3728-ipod-shuffle-orange.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Apples classic “toy” has been modernized. The only iPod with flash memory has been revamped. Although personally I believe 15 ounces is just pushing the limits of how small you want your audio device, and perhaps the Apple nation agrees as shuffle sales are slipping along with other flash memory users. However, perhaps in an attempt to prevent further slippage, Apple has has added yet another gigabyte to this bite-size wonder. My suggestion is, don’t get the shuffle for multiple types of music as it should be used as a specific tool such as your running music, or music you listen to when you should be listening to something excruciatingly boring. This can be a feature of the shuffle as you never have to change the songs, its cheap, and very discreet. Now, as this is my reasoning, I do not suggest buying it just because of the surplus gig.

Go Pro For Sho’ if Yo’ Got the Dough

12 03 2008

product-15in.jpgSo… the new MacBook Pro came out again towards the end of February and as usual apple bumps up the expectation line half a notch. This half a notch however is the difference between waiting for an application to load, and having it load so fast you wonder if you were day dreaming. The only trouble to this waiting time is it doesn’t give you time to enjoy the metallic sleekness that apple so often entrusts within its notebooks.
