Getting anything stolen sucks, almost as much as 100 decibels to the face. With this new “Siren Lock” any intruder tampering with your stuff or lock will get between 98 to 105 decibels to the face, which is roughly the equivalent of a walkman’s full volume on your ear. If this isn’t enough to successfully scare the crap out of any burglar, it will at least notify you if you happen to be in the same state/province. The alarm doesn’t cheap out on metal either because it is made from a chrome-finished hardened steel lock, on top of a zinc-alloy body. This machine will definitely wither save your stuff, or allow you the peace of mind to know that the burglar will be selling his new trinket to buy himself a new pair of pants after he dirties himself.
The padlock is $20, so if you want to test this out yourself click here.

The XO-2, a project by Mary Lou Jepsen in association with PixelQi, looks to be a laptop I’d would pick next to a MacBook. And it starts at only 75 dollars. Clearly OLPC cannot stop pulling things out of their sleeves wed assume were developed by a much bigger industry. The computer is going to have dual touch screens for vertical ‘Book Like’ reading or horizontal laptop style computing. Negroponte, the founder of OLPC, doesnt share much about the hardware but we do know that it will be about 50% the size of the original XO. Jepsen wont say if they are working with microsoft or not like we predicted, but she does say that they (PizelQi) will be working with, “large, tier-one laptop, cell phones, and e-book makers.
According to Negropontes speech, the XO-2 will be due in 2010, so hopefully they will walk before they run and decide to maybe release one with the far out of date technology of one touchscreen. Did I mention that this was 75 dollars? The speech ended by Negroponte stating that the Give One Get One will resume in August or September of this year.

Okay, rumors put it between 7.2 and 8.1 (engadget says 8.1, everyone else* says 7.2) Megapixels but either number represents the trend for higher and higher quality cameras on phones. The phone has a sleek camera design, with sliding lens cover and 3 times optical zoom. This phone will have a built in GPS, and a T.V. out and DLNA certification. This seriously demonstrates how much better phones cameras are becoming than even devoted cameras of several years back. As you can see in the picture above this phone will be classified as a Cybershot. This will be the first Cybershot phone released and is a truly ground breaking achievement that shows what Apple should shoot for with the next iPhone. Codename Shiho.

The Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, based in Japan has now releases a follow-up to their prior, solar panel leaves design. The picture above shows the developer holding the screen which will be commercialized sometime in 2015. Its main purpose will be to host a bunch of paper platforms like a miniature smartboard. The current prototypical display is 6″ by 6″ with a pixel pitch of 127μm, very nice.

Although the name is a bit ridiculous, Snow Leopard looks nice with a possible running capacity of 16 terrabytes of RAM. This is the main market for the Snow Leopard, and it is made for multi-core processors, many more of which we can expect to see from Apple. Although little is known about this new feature called “grand central” it is supposedly also there for better help with powerful computers. Also Safari is going to feel the boost in about a year when this thing comes out. SquirrelFish is the equally stupidly amusing title of this safari platform, claimed to be 1.6 times faster than the one you are running now. (I don’t take you for a FireFox kind of guy) You can expect Snow Leopard in the first or second quarter of next year with an unknown price.

Here it is, released twice at the keynote today, the super cool iPhone Ad. Enjoy!

The Flip Mino, after first being released about a month ago in a shopping magazine is finally out. This new Ultra-Cool Ultra-Tiny camcorder has joined the ranks of the Flip family and has far surpassed its predecessors. It has an hour (2 gb) of storage space matching the other two (Flip, Ultra) in storage space yet shedding 40% of its sleek covering. It comes with simple editing software and the ability to upload to YouTube and other video sites from the screen that comes up when you plug it in. There are no-push buttons on the mechanism which operate the screen designed for on the go filming, built up with an anti glare shield. Finally, there is a rechargeable battery instead of the AA’s that have powered its ancestors which is a massive relief and ups the coolness factor around 85%. This is an overall brilliant design with classy features… with a hefty price of 180 dollars. To buy a Mino click here. For pictures click here.

Up on a giant, unfashionable tripod is where this new attempted rip off system comes from. Sony apparently is trying to take Nintendo’s Wiimote design and function once again, after first developing motion detection devices with the PS3 , which has vastly undersold the Wii. The information is only gathered from several PS3 owners that were taken to a US city to view this new design and test out games similar to Wii tennis, and paint ball games. The game might not actually take effect like much of Sony’s other ideas but if it does you could imagine some people at Nintendo getting very, very mad.

FireFox, in an attempt to set the world record for most downloads in 24 hours, is holding a download day festivity to download the new FireFox 3. By the time I’ve written this 402,604 people have pledged which is somewhat higher than the current record give or take 402,604. Yes thats right, there is no record, so the record is zero downloads. The map above is on FireFox’s download day website and shows that the United States is kicking butt, dominating Brazils 29,124 more than double, and crushing Polands third place score of 27,529. It appears the African countries are doing the worst with Swaziland passing with a crummy 12 downloads. It is not set yet but Download Day is supposed to be some time in June. Pledge by clicking on the flaming fox below.
