Everybody, we have swithced the site, it is now just fathomfruit.com. Honestly, stop going to this, there are more posts on the updated site, and a better interface. Also, Ad’s! If this site continues to out do the new one both will lose funding, and die, miserably. Save the site, type less in the URL bar. Remember, fathomfruit.com, fathomfruit.com, fathomfruit.com. Thank you again.
Fixed!
23 06 2008Everyone may now visit the enhanced fathomfruit, and stop looking at this entirely. The new address is FathomFruit.com. No redirection. Sorry for the convenience.

100 Decibel Padlock: 30 Decibels Less Than Threshold of Pain
12 06 2008
Getting anything stolen sucks, almost as much as 100 decibels to the face. With this new “Siren Lock” any intruder tampering with your stuff or lock will get between 98 to 105 decibels to the face, which is roughly the equivalent of a walkman’s full volume on your ear. If this isn’t enough to successfully scare the crap out of any burglar, it will at least notify you if you happen to be in the same state/province. The alarm doesn’t cheap out on metal either because it is made from a chrome-finished hardened steel lock, on top of a zinc-alloy body. This machine will definitely wither save your stuff, or allow you the peace of mind to know that the burglar will be selling his new trinket to buy himself a new pair of pants after he dirties himself.
The padlock is $20, so if you want to test this out yourself click here.

| Threshold of Pain | 1*101 W/m2 | 130 dB | 101 |
| Military Jet Takeoff | 1*102 W/m2 | 140 dB | 101 |

XO-2 out in 2010, Will They Ever Take a Break
11 06 2008The XO-2, a project by Mary Lou Jepsen in association with PixelQi, looks to be a laptop I’d would pick next to a MacBook. And it starts at only 75 dollars. Clearly OLPC cannot stop pulling things out of their sleeves wed assume were developed by a much bigger industry. The computer is going to have dual touch screens for vertical ‘Book Like’ reading or horizontal laptop style computing. Negroponte, the founder of OLPC, doesnt share much about the hardware but we do know that it will be about 50% the size of the original XO. Jepsen wont say if they are working with microsoft or not like we predicted, but she does say that they (PizelQi) will be working with, “large, tier-one laptop, cell phones, and e-book makers.
According to Negropontes speech, the XO-2 will be due in 2010, so hopefully they will walk before they run and decide to maybe release one with the far out of date technology of one touchscreen. Did I mention that this was 75 dollars? The speech ended by Negroponte stating that the Give One Get One will resume in August or September of this year.

8.1 megapixels on a phone‽‽ (maybe 7.2)
10 06 2008
Okay, rumors put it between 7.2 and 8.1 (engadget says 8.1, everyone else* says 7.2) Megapixels but either number represents the trend for higher and higher quality cameras on phones. The phone has a sleek camera design, with sliding lens cover and 3 times optical zoom. This phone will have a built in GPS, and a T.V. out and DLNA certification. This seriously demonstrates how much better phones cameras are becoming than even devoted cameras of several years back. As you can see in the picture above this phone will be classified as a Cybershot. This will be the first Cybershot phone released and is a truly ground breaking achievement that shows what Apple should shoot for with the next iPhone. Codename Shiho.

AIST Shows Virtual, Bendy, Paper. Cool?
10 06 2008

The Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, based in Japan has now releases a follow-up to their prior, solar panel leaves design. The picture above shows the developer holding the screen which will be commercialized sometime in 2015. Its main purpose will be to host a bunch of paper platforms like a miniature smartboard. The current prototypical display is 6″ by 6″ with a pixel pitch of 127μm, very nice.

Snow Leopard Released For Developers
9 06 2008
Although the name is a bit ridiculous, Snow Leopard looks nice with a possible running capacity of 16 terrabytes of RAM. This is the main market for the Snow Leopard, and it is made for multi-core processors, many more of which we can expect to see from Apple. Although little is known about this new feature called “grand central” it is supposedly also there for better help with powerful computers. Also Safari is going to feel the boost in about a year when this thing comes out. SquirrelFish is the equally stupidly amusing title of this safari platform, claimed to be 1.6 times faster than the one you are running now. (I don’t take you for a FireFox kind of guy) You can expect Snow Leopard in the first or second quarter of next year with an unknown price.

iPhone 3G Announced for the First Time Today
9 06 2008After being closed for a couple of hours, the Apple online store opened up again at 12:00 Pacific Time with a little surprise: The 3G iPhone! For half the price (starting at $199) of the original iPhone, you can get an 8 gig black iPhone or a 16 black or WHITE iPhone. The iPhone comes with the “App Store” and thats exactly what it is: an on-board store for applications, plus it comes with better email and map programs. The map app has GPS and better views. This is the first time that Apple has officially announced the much anticipated 3G, although it doesn’t come out until July 11th. There is only one thing to be disappointed about: no iChat. Well, at least not yet. It did seem like a stretch for there to be two cameras, but still it woulda been AWESOME. There may still be iChat on the 3G, but Apple just doesn’t want to announce that yet. The iPhone looks great in black and white, and should not disappoint. iPhones will be available both at Apple Stores and AT&T stores. When 3G comes out, FathomFruit will be one of the first in line and posting live from the Apple Store. We strongly recommend it now, and will have a full review once we have the hardware itself.
